Is Chloe in or out? Watch the finale with her and find out
Well, here it is: the moment of truth. Is local designer Chloe Dao the winner of Project Runway? Did the diminutive designer and owner of Lot 8 wow judges and the fashion elite in New York during Olympus Fashion Week? Regardless of the outcome, she still rocks in my book but it would be nice for her to win.
If you want to celebrate and support Dao, head to Farrago in Midtown tonight (March to watch the season finale. She will be there and I can tell you that the party for the premiere episode of Project Runway was fun, and the people who come are fans of the show, Lot 8 and Dao herself.

I just read this http://www.danielvosovic.net/danielv.html on Daniel's website and this seems like very hard proof that he doesnt win. Throught out the entire season it was emphasized that he didnt have much experience and was just a recent fashion grad... IMO, if he had won, then he wouldnt need to tout all of his previous experience AND from the last paragraph it REALLY doesnt sound like he won... Any thoughts?
If Chloe doesn't win, she already has a business to fall back on. Give it to Dan V. (even though his collection wasn't the most cohesive). I feel like the judges are going to discount him just cuz he said "asian" and "military" b/c it was sooooo not that. Why did he SAY THAT?
I have to say before this is over, that I think that last year's finale collections were overall better. Jay McCarroll made a full length dress that he dyed in many different colors. Kara Saun's dresses were also beautiful and even Wendy's were more ornate (although not nec as pretty) than the ones here. When they just said that they gave them $8,000 for this collection I thought-- where did it all go, in terms of materials...?
Chloe's collection isn't nice at all, she shouldn't win for that. I liked her through out the show but that collection is bad. Daniel's is really good but I like Santino's better. I hope its Daniel or Santino.
Why does someone who already has a business win? Why should somebody who already has a business even be on the show? Same reason it would have been insane for Kara Saun to win last year- remember "Shoegate"? ha ha...
chloe's collection was couture...if you mean chintzy oversized Texas bridemaid's collections. Those green dresses with the ribbon reminded me of Christmas trees.
I like Chloe well enough and I loved her designs on the show (except for that last one) but her collection was awful. I think Santino described it best when he said something about it looking like a couch was coming at you.
Poor Daniel, he was robbed. I think the judges knew who they wanted to win all along, Chloe could have sent muumuus down the runway and still won. Ugh, poor Santino no matter what he made and how good it was they would never let him win.
I loved everyone's work for their final collection.
Chloe's work reminded me of those Koi fish. It made me want more. I wonder what her daywear looks like.
Daniel's work was solid and even pretty but it reminded me of Talbot's.
Santino's work had some great touches but I agree with the judges that the fit issues implied that he sees the dresses too independently of the women who will wear them. Who does he make these things for?
Congrats Chloe! I always thought that Chloe came in 2nd too many times during the show- its thrilling to see her win and touching too (8 siblings in a prison camp as a child in Laos.) She's understated and I'm glad that this great thing finally happened to her. Daniel is talented, but he'll have time to rock the world-- its obvious that many people will start commissioning dress from him shortly
Well, I'm happy for Chloe. I did like her things. But, I can't say I'm not somewhat disappointed for Daniel. I just hope he doesn't go to work for Michael Kors. DON'T DO IT DANIEL!!!
I am so glad that Chloe won. I can't be some of you guys are pissed that she won. What's wrong with you. Many of you were hoping that she would be in the top three and now you are mad that she won? Give me a break. Let's be happy about it. It's a good thing that Santino didn't win because he got what was coming for him. I'm sorry that DV didn't win, but I was rooting for him and Chloe. I guess I'll see the show in two hours.
Not crazy about Chloe's Fashion Week designs but she definitely has the talent to pull off whatever Banana Republic wants from her. Her critical eye for detail will take her far and can only infuse her own line with that little extra something.
Could a couple people respond regarding how they feel about people with established businesses competing? I'm really feeling like it's not giving somebody without resources an opportunity to get started. It's kind of like a car dealer winning a car or something.......
Huge Runway fan who just discovered this blog tonight. Where have I been?! I've been a huge Chloe fan all season. While the pink dress did look like it was trying to eat the model who wore it...I'm still so thrilled for her. I think she's gonna pull out something fab. And I also have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Santino. Daniel V.? Meh. I could've done without him. Based on the shows, I actually think Kara should've won. But what do I know?
I like Chloe but that collection just did not deserve to win. I really thought Daniel or Santino was going to get it. I am pretty dissapointed and sad right now. At least we had a great time watching this season. "Make it work" is now a permanant part of my vocabulary. Thank you Laura for this blog and thanks to T-Bone for your great live postings. Did anyone notice some of Kara's models (wearing her hats) in some of the backround shots? Made me laugh. In other news... Daniel, boy, I am going to find a way to buy that white coat. I absolutley loved his collection (and Santino's)...actually, Chloe was the person who I thought would be auffed first. Oh, well, best of luck to all three! Not complaining about the Chloe win, though. I do love Grace XD.
I do think Chloe's pieces have been great and I agree 100% with the judges constant arguement that she knows a woman's body. I do think she is deserving to win. I actually think all three of them were equally deserving. But I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the fact that Daniel won so many challenges and made so many impeccably beautiful pieces, including his WEARABLE looking collection tonight, and yet he didn't get the winning title. Oh well. BEST OF LUCK TO THEM ALL!
I think the judges held Dan's age against him. That is so wrong!!! I like Chloe and I liked her collection pretty well. But, I really think Dan should have won. Or, maybe Michael Kors jumped at this opportunity to try and benefit from young talent. Daniel, you aren't going to need to work for Michael Kors or anyone else. But, hey, I'm just so happy that Santino didn't win!!! His bad behavior got him a whole lot further than it should have.

those print dresses...anyone else thinking LAURA ASHLEY??? blegh! and the shiny pink dress with the huuuge sleeves! Is that supposed to be wearable? I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that.
Santino's on the other hand, I would wear most of it! He should have won...but in the end I think they were scared of getting screamed at by the many people who hated him.
Why was Debra Messing a judge??? She's an actress. I think Will and grace sucks and I never liked her, and I like her even less for helping Cloe to win and Santino to loose. Damn I'm pissed.
Ha but we have the pleasure of knowing that Cloe's awkward 'butt dance' behind the screen will be replayed time and time again on Season 3. (like Jays' little jump was)
In the end Santino was the most memorable and talented and he will probably be more successful than any of them in 5 years.

Balenciaga's look has already been done.. BY BALENCIAGA. It looks like Chloe just lifted the look for an edge. Lame.
I have to say I didn't like Santino while watching earlier episodes, but I do realize that producers edit this to make people look bad.
His pieces this whole season were amazing, even though he didn't really follow the guidelines strictly (e.g. the ice skating dress was totally impractical). But he IS fashion.
I have to stop reading. When the show ended I was upset-but it's over-done-can't change what happened. But now I am getting pissy. I always liked Chloe's designs-her flower power and ice skating designs wee among my favorites all season, but I didn't like this collection. I wish Daniel's collection was chosen. I miss him already.
I'm strictly going off the photos on the web, since I haven't seen the show yet, but "Couch comin' at ya" is sticking in my head. And probably will for a long time - Chloe or no Chloe. What a great comment!
I'm completely surprised Santino was auf'd first - that made no sense to me, as his was clearly the best collection. But I'm happy for Chloe - I'm sure she'll use the money well.
I liked Debra Messing when she was on Ned & Stacey with Thomas Haden Church (from the movie Sideways), but seriously, what does a TV actress with a "pretend" gay best friend know about fashion? Maybe she only knows "pretend" style, too. I kid with love- just like Santino ;^)
After finally seeing all 3 shows in motion, I knew it was going to be Chloe. Her collection, albeit shiny and 80's-looking, was absolute perfection in tailoring and lines. In fashion, who's to say that what was once old, can't be new again?
And IMO, she was the consummate marketer as well. Either that, or she sold her enthusiasm for her collection better than Santino or David combined. When you show at FW, you HAVE to be convinced that your pieces are the MOST beautiful things you've created to date...and she absolutely did that.
I feel like we should break out in the "Good Night" song from Sound of Music now.... In honor of Mom's viewing of it with the boys of 35D (dream date), and to send off this great season.
Ok-so I feel like a traitor right now-but I still have Bravo on and I'm watching Top Chef while getting over Daniel's loss... Harold-is the son of a kindergarten teacher I work with. I think I'll still be at Bravo Wednesday nights.
Still won't be the same without Daniel. :( I'm going through withdrawal already-when do the repeats start again?

ReplyDeleteHuge Runway fan who just discovered this blog tonight. Where have I been?! I've been a huge Chloe fan all season. While the pink dress did look like it was trying to eat the model who wore it...I'm still so thrilled for her. I think she's gonna pull out something fab. And I also have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Santino. Daniel V.? Meh. I could've done without him. Based on the shows, I actually think Kara should've won. But what do I know?
I like Chloe but that collection just did not deserve to win. I really thought Daniel or Santino was going to get it. I am pretty dissapointed and sad right now. At least we had a great time watching this season. "Make it work" is now a permanant part of my vocabulary. Thank you Laura for this blog and thanks to T-Bone for your great live postings. See you all for season 3!

ReplyDeleteDaniel, boy, I am going to find a way to buy that white coat. I absolutley loved his collection (and Santino's)...actually, Chloe was the person who I thought would be auffed first. Oh, well, best of luck to all three!
Not complaining about the Chloe win, though. I do love Grace XD.
I do think Chloe's pieces have been great and I agree 100% with the judges constant arguement that she knows a woman's body. I do think she is deserving to win. I actually think all three of them were equally deserving. But I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the fact that Daniel won so many challenges and made so many impeccably beautiful pieces, including his WEARABLE looking collection tonight, and yet he didn't get the winning title. Oh well. BEST OF LUCK TO THEM ALL!

ReplyDeleteI think the judges held Dan's age against him. That is so wrong!!! I like Chloe and I liked her collection pretty well. But, I really think Dan should have won. Or, maybe Michael Kors jumped at this opportunity to try and benefit from young talent. Daniel, you aren't going to need to work for Michael Kors or anyone else. But, hey, I'm just so happy that Santino didn't win!!! His bad behavior got him a whole lot further than it should have.

Santino's on the other hand, I would wear most of it! He should have won...but in the end I think they were scared of getting screamed at by the many people who hated him.
Why was Debra Messing a judge??? She's an actress. I think Will and grace sucks and I never liked her, and I like her even less for helping Cloe to win and Santino to loose. Damn I'm pissed.
Ha but we have the pleasure of knowing that Cloe's awkward 'butt dance' behind the screen will be replayed time and time again on Season 3. (like Jays' little jump was)
In the end Santino was the most memorable and talented and he will probably be more successful than any of them in 5 years.

ReplyDeleteI have to say I didn't like Santino while watching earlier episodes, but I do realize that producers edit this to make people look bad.
His pieces this whole season were amazing, even though he didn't really follow the guidelines strictly (e.g. the ice skating dress was totally impractical). But he IS fashion.

ReplyDeleteI'm completely surprised Santino was auf'd first - that made no sense to me, as his was clearly the best collection. But I'm happy for Chloe - I'm sure she'll use the money well.

ReplyDeleteI liked Debra Messing when she was on Ned & Stacey with Thomas Haden Church (from the movie Sideways), but seriously, what does a TV actress with a "pretend" gay best friend know about fashion? Maybe she only knows "pretend" style, too. I kid with love- just like Santino ;^)
After finally seeing all 3 shows in motion, I knew it was going to be Chloe. Her collection, albeit shiny and 80's-looking, was absolute perfection in tailoring and lines. In fashion, who's to say that what was once old, can't be new again?
ReplyDeleteAnd IMO, she was the consummate marketer as well. Either that, or she sold her enthusiasm for her collection better than Santino or David combined. When you show at FW, you HAVE to be convinced that your pieces are the MOST beautiful things you've created to date...and she absolutely did that.
