Are there clips that have been unaired? We are being barraged with the same footage over and over again and it's driving me mad.
I repectfully disagree. I've never seen "The Big Idea' before, but it seems SO rushed and hurried. The host is racing through his questions and is on to another one before the first one is answered. I'd really have prefered to hear from the designers more than see an endless parade of clips. Really disappointing show.
same here. it's really a big mess. it's jumping from one thing to another and i'm like "ugh!"i am digging the runway show right now, but i hope it's not messed up. it's quite nice to see the pieces again.
I'm really irritated as well. I know it's hard to interview such a large group of people, but Donny Deutsch keeps cutting everybody off. Is he trying to keep it from getting interesting? Most of his questions are kind of "so-what".
I'm sorry - but I think the show is utterly lame. seems like the whole purpose of this show is to give the disconnected husbands what their wives are obsessing about. donny talks too much and it's obvious he's quite overwhelmed with all the guests. just when an interesting discussion begins (how much does it cost to start your own company / why'd jay turn down the 100g) he shuts it down to replay some clip we've seen a 100 times.
Yes, I think this program is aimed at folks who may not already be fans of the show like we are. I believe it is designed to give an overview of the program so that NEW viewers will tune in for the finale. I'm for anything that contributes to the success of Project Runway so I still say YAY!
Too many already aired clips- too much talking Danny- too many commercial breaks-- why were the designers there? Heaven knows this show didn't need them!
I agree the show seemed rushed, but I thought the host had good energy and seemed to be having a good time. One thing I could do without would be asking the others to "raise your hand" for the one you think should win. - I think we should all know the winner by now - Bravo tell us, and these people should not be asked to raise thier and anymore - What can I say? I am annoyed the final has been so dragged out!
I'm with you on this, Laura. I very much enjoyed it. Yes, it was compressed but we did get to see a little bit of the runway show and Emmett spoke more here then he did on the Reunion special. And it was cool to see the models wearing the designs again.
The best part about the show was the tv showing the olympus fashion week show behind Donny's head.Where was Heather? Danyelle was Santino's model.
I was a little surprised to see that the designers are still holding quite a grudge against Santiino - even after last week's "up close and personal" look into Santino's personal hell. But overall, the Deutsch show was all jump cuts and sentence fragments. I saw nothing that would attract new viwers from the uninitiated. And there is so much more to Andrae than that damn meltdown.
I agree with everybody - WAY too many clips and too many guests. I would be annoyed if I were one of his guests that didn't get one word in (that's most of them!) Jay was pretty funny, though.
Oh yeah, that "raise your hand" part was REALLY awkward. Do you think Donny watches the show? I liked hearing Santino admit that Nicki Hilton didn't actually wear the dress. I thought for sure that Santino and Nicki were BFF. Right, Santino? Aren't you designing for the boutiques in all of the Hilton Hotels or something? I thought I heard that somewhere.... Just kidding Santino!
Presumably the designers (or at least the final three) know who won. So---does anyone have any new thoughts based on Santino's, Chloe's and Daniel's body language, demeanor, etc.? When I'm thinking clearly, I see all sorts of reasons why Daniel will probably win, but, since I have hopes for Santino, I may just be hallucinating that Daniel is looking a tad glum......?
I was watching the show to see the mood of the Final 3 designers, and I have to say that Santino seemed quite happy and relaxed. And during the runway show portion, when his gold dress was being shown, he said it was to be featured on the cover of Elle magazine in a week or so. Yes, he laughed, but the comment, along with his at-ease demeanor, really makes me wonder if he ended up winning the whole she-bang.
I missed it.Any possibility for clips or screens?
I enjoyed the show, but there were too many commercials and too many guests and features. I am glad Kara got to say a couple sentences at least. That's more than 75% of the contestants. Disappointing was the fashion show with the 6 outfits we already saw.Santino looked sad to me and spaced out? I bet they already know who the Project Runway winner is? That must have been taped by now. I never stopped to think that many celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Debra Messing, etc. watch and love the show. Very cool stuff!
I heard the "Elle cover" line about the gold dress too, I did not see it as a clue so much though, more like reliving the glory days - I think Nina said during the judging it would make a great cover. Oh how I wish it were a clue though! : ) I just want to know who won!
I think Donny Deutch is very short-attention span.By the way, Laura, thanks for putting up the link for the eBay auction. As a mother of an autistic child, I like knowing that personalities that I enjoy such as the Project Runway cast support worthy causes; they realize that it isn't always about them.
I have to agree with the "nay" gang. My main objections have already been voiced (clips we've seen over and over, DD cutting people off just as they were answering his questions) except for one. I hat watching anything with a moving zipper at the bottom of the screen, but that's nothing to compare with the words above it taking up one-quarter of the screen. Unbearable!
Did anyone else notice in the opening when they announced each of the finalists they showed a clip of the infamous "walkoff" from the Nicki Hilton party. So they introduced Daniel, followed by clip of Daniel's walkoff; Santino, followed by clip of Santino's walkoff; Chloe, followed by clip of Diana's walkoff!! Can Donny not stop talking long enough to realize that not all asian girls look alike? Sheesh!
After watching Donny Deutsch's interview, I get the impression he's never watched Project Runway. (Couldn't he have done his research, then?) He confused Chloe and Diana. Those two don't look anything alike. He frequently interrupted his guests. Donny kept talking and talking even though he really had nothing amazing or important to say. We watched the show to hear about the experiences of the Project Runway guests, not Donny Deutsch's scripted reactions. I agree that he aired far too many clips, but I wouldn't have minded so much if his whole show, PR clips and all, hadn't been an inferior regurgitation of the Bravo reunion episode. Ugh, and Tim hardly got to talk at all. I love Tim Gunn! He's half the reason I tuned in at all.
I thought the show was okay. It as definately geared towards those who may not be very familiar with the show. I have seen The Big Idea before and even this episode was particularly rushed.Well, awesome to see some of the final collection in motion!!
I liked the show, I felt like it was the reunion show Bravo should have done. More positive and upbeat. Also I got the impression Iman and Daniel's blue dress might show up in Elle, not Santino's gold number based on Nina's comments on how Iman made it hers - including picking up pieces at Elle for the look.
So I missed the first 10 minutes of the program so was shocked to read in previous comments about confusion of Chloe and Diana. Knowing Mr. Deutsch's show can be haphazard I viewed with lower expectations regarding possible abundant new revelations. Those of us with addictive personalities were let down with the rehash of clips there were a few little tidbits we learned [emphasis: few]. One big plus is the autographed portfolio with proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks. It's a win-win for the charity and the fan and possibly more down the road for the fan considering Karl Lagerfeld got his start by winning a competition. In the end, I'll still take this kind of promotion of the show by the NBC Universal machine because after Wendnesday, it is several months to Season 3.
I called it the big disappointment with Donny Deutsch. I felt like I was in ADD H$((, jumping all over the place-and on to a commercial break. There were so many opportunities for real, interesting dialogue-Jay and Daniel starting to talk about where you go from here with starting a line, Jay expounding more on the Heidi situation and turning down the mentorship, LOL. And Jay mixing up the Daniels, LOL. I heart Jay, he is such a character! Nina and the judging-why not ask HER if Santino was kept in for good TV as well? I hated it when DD cut off someone who was making a point, which he did repeatedly!! And the fashion show-well, they should have shown our top 5, LOL!! BUT-did you hear Jay say be nice to your fans and you know about the message boards and Blogs?-Laura K, you are famous!!
I liked it. I didn't have a problem with the jumping and rushing and whatnot - that's usually what happens on CNBC or MSNBC shows.I liked that he at least was asking decent questions. When I said "Where's Santino's model Heather?" My husband replied "Shooting an Elle fashion spread."Hmmmmm.
My favorite part was when Chloe did a little booty dance in front of Tim and Chloe said, "It was the year of the big butt!"Otherwise-pretty lame, same old, same old for loyal viewers. And Donny's voice agrravates the h*ll out of me.
Ok, I meant GRACE did a little hip-shake for Tim in Chloe's evening gown. Oops. And I loved being able to see the FW runway show playing behind Donny's head. I payed attention to that the most. Can't wait for Wednesday's show!I'm still saying Daniel wins the competition. He looked so at ease on the couch with his arm around Chloe.
You know, there is something odd about the timing of this. I mean by now the finale has been in the can for WEEKS! The three finalists, their models, Nina, Tim, and who knows how many others know by now who the winner is. It seems kind of cruel (and even a little risky) to tape a show like this now. At least the "Reunion" episode was filmed before the OFW Show so there was a sense of anticipation. Here, we are trying to analyze the "body language" and demeanor of the finalists. The timing of this is off. I'll bet this is something that was not originally scheduled but just sort of added to the build-up of PR hype as we lead to the final episode. And.... me, I'm glad there IS so much hype. The timing just seems a little strange. By the way, was Kirsten Ehrig there? Was she one of the designers brought into the studio during part one of the finale? I don't recall seeing her. Of course, she is pregnant, but that didn't stop Heidi! I hope she is okay.
Okay- someone mentioned it, so I am going with it. I watched for clues to the winner. I am with Matthew who posted that Santino made an Elle comment and also seemed very relaxed. He seems more energized. Don't know.....everyone else seemed a little "over it".
I think you're absolutely right, Laura, that this show was not originally scheduled but added to the build-up of PR hype as we approach final episode. It patently worked for me. I'm acutely aware there's something a bit silly about peering at the contestants, trying to draw a conclusion about what happened weeks ago based on my subjective perception of their behavior now. But, it gets worse! I actually found myself wondering if the show of hands episode was pre-arranged, so no clear winner but one clear loser emerged, just to tease us. How addle-brained is that? If Wednesday doesn't come soon, I'll be beyond all help.
From the show I got the impression that Daniel V may have won. He asked Jay why he didn't take the $100K...wouldn't only the winner really be interested in that?
^^Not necessarily. Maybe he didn't win, and was being like "Why didn't you take the money? I would have definitely taken the money if I'd won. I would have appreciated it." There really is no telling.I think he probably won. Makes me mad, cuz I really don't like his collection at all. But there are a lot of reasons I could see them just giving it to him.
I noticed that Kirsten was not there also. And I don't believe John Wade was either.(On the DD show.) I kept trying frantically to count during the scans of the designers and came up with 14 present.About Kirsten, didn't she say that she was 7 months at the reunion (filmed February 8). So if this was filmed recently she'd be 8 months and lives in LA. Wouldn't she have some travel restrictions? Heidi just had to take a cab to get to the studio.
What we have to remember is that the winner of Project Runway isn't necessarily the biggest "winner." Lots of other, bigger and better things can come from the exposure from the show and the runway exposure at Fashion week. So, Daniel could have won Project Runway, but Santino could be a very fortunate fellow because he's picked up a sponsor or support that's even more valuable than the Banana Republic mentorship and $100K and the Saturn car. I mean, how good a fit would Santino be with Banana Republic anyhow? Also, one other thought. Wasn't Tim Gunn supposed to give his opinions about the Oscar gowns? I tuned out early -- around 10:45, because it was so boring and because Donny D stopped announcing that Tim was going to talk about the Oscar gowns, but I thought at the beginning of the show and before several of the early breaks he said Tim was going to give a red carpet report. AND, if Tim was at the Oscars, who was he reporting for? Does anyone know? Because I really really would like to see/hear/read Tim's thoughts about the Oscar gowns. IMHO, and totally off topic -- Jessica Alba rocked. Uma Thurman rocked almost as much. Felicity Huffman was a little bit too thin to be showing that much deep cleavage, it was more like showing her rib cage. Keira Knightly's bulgari necklace was awesome. Hillary Swank's gown was beautiful, but where was the necklace to set it off?
Why does Santino end up sitting practically on top of Chloe in both the reunion show and the Big Idea? It seems like such a violation of personal space?
Plum-a-granate wanted to know about Tim Gunn and the Oscars - he was briefly on the NBC morning show with another reporter. I can't remember all that he said and hope this is accurate, but I recall that he really liked Selma Hayek, Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz (especially in her pregnant condition)and Michele Williams (perfect hair, makeup, whole look). Surprisingly, he thought Charlize Theron pulled off the dress with the big bow, as a strong statement. He thought Naomi Watts' dress was too close to her skin color and not at all flattering, however he thought Nicole Kidman had everything with the color, shape, beading. He noted the predominance of nude shades and I guess Santino got that one right in his collection! He thought Reese Witherspoon's dress looked heavy and tired - interesting comments. There was another actress (that he mentioned)who he thought got it totally wrong but I can't find her photo to cue my memory! I always love hearing his opinion and think he should have his own show. I confess to watching for every appearance of Project Runway cast members and was glad I caught this brief appearance. Sorry DD didn't get to it - perhaps on another show. Also, I just caught (by running home in between things) the appearance of the final three on The View on ABC. Santino had a notice on his blog and I busted back here to see it! Nothing new but Nina said they had a really hard time choosing the winner. So they are all winners and I'm sure they all got "dressed down" by the final jury members and are humbled even now. The three finalists were on - Santino with his Nicky Hilton dress (with a very visibly frayed hem - briefly shown but a bad flaw if a dress doesn't last!), Chloe with her clothes-off-your-back challenge (and a model that didn't show it as well as Grace!), and Daniel V. with his inspiration orchid which I must say looks better now than it did originally (I thought this on the DD show also). They showed Iman in Daniel V's dress, also. No further clues except that they mentioned that Daniel V had won most of the challenges and might be the favorite. Boy are they killing us with the suspense!
thank you upstate ny pr fan for your summary of tim gunn's oscar fashion comments. well done! and much appreciated.
Yes, OFW is over and done with, but why should we assume that the winner has been announced to anyone yet? They may be taping the final few minutes today. With all the voice overs and pregnant pauses of earlier "in or out" segments, the actual announcements only take a minute or so. The decision may have been made by the judges, but they might still be keeping the winner a secret.
More like Donny Douche Bag! He was being a jerk, especially to the designers which were not in the final three. He cut Kara off two times and those were the only two times she even got to open her mouth.
oh Donny D was very frustrating.. I really believe the percentage of Donny D viewers will decrease.but did anyone notice the comments from Debra Messing and Sarah Jessica Parker?? I hope she will be a guest judge next season..
On the Oscar commentary by Tim Gunn, BPR now has the link up and I must amend my above post - I got some of it correct but other comments confused. My recollections on Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz plus Reese Witherspoon were the most accurate. I wouldn't want to attribute anything to Tim that he didn't say. More reason for him to have his own show!On the judging, I think it happened the day of the show - the finalists seem to have the same outfits on when they are standing before the judges as when they come out on the runway. Plus I think I read somewhere that the judging would happen the same day. I think the three have known it since then and that's a lot to deal with - it's also the way it was done last year. On the other hand they could be doing things differently this year...
I'd love to see a challenge where they design something for Sarah Jessica Parker. Although it would have been more fun had they done it based on her charcter Carrie in SATC.
Donnie doesn't let anyone finish a sentence! Everytime something interesting was being said, he cut them off. Kara was one.
