News on Season 3?

Buy it through BPR and support a Parsons Scholarship
BPR reader Brian noticed that the Season 2 DVD box artwork has finally been released at tvshowsondvd.com and that it comes with this very interesting little tidbit:

...including an exclusive look at the casting call for Season 3 (which begins airing on Bravo just a couple of weeks after the Season 2 DVD release)

The Season 2 DVD is scheduled for release on June 27 (pre-order hereto benefit the BPR Scholarship Fund), so if this note is correct, Season 3 will begin airing in July! Still no official word from Bravo, but this would coincide with a Finale near the Spring 2007 OFW in September and also support earlier rumors about Project Runway moving to twice a year.

Wow - Season 3 might be right around the corner!

agh, project runway twice a year would be heaven! i just wonder about the compressed time between filming and airing, and then between the end of filming and the sept. fashion show. the finalists definitely would have much less time than the previous two groups. oh well, bravo has the right to shake things up a bit. and i know i'm not the only one who'd adore a third season coming soon!

I thought about that too, celia. Assuming filming ends in late June, that only gives the Final 3 two months to prepare their collections.

But if you think back to Chloe, she didn't really start her OFW collection until mid-December for the February show. It will be a non-stop ride for this Final 3!

Am I the only person whose elation is tempered with concern that PR might just burn itself out with over-exposure? On one hand, I'd love only having to wait until July for my next fix. On the other, I'd be prepared to delay gratification if it meant PR would be around for a very long time.

This would be so great! But so far the timing for Season 3 is exactly the same as last year, with auditions in March and filming in June. How quickly could they film and edit this? Will it be a rushed job? The editing has been so brilliant - I would hate a rushed schedule to adversely impact the quality.

I am still puzzled by one thing in the timing. Do all the designers have to stay in New York until the end of filming? Or do they go home one by one? If they go home, wouldn't this leak the results? But if they stay, where do they go? Haven't quite figured this one out. Does anybody know?

To the scot - you are certainly not alone. There is much concern over the potential dilution of the talent pool and the strain on the editors. We'll have to wait and see!

Anonymous - The designers who are aufed go home. They have a confidentiality clause in their contracts that prohibits them from revealing any details from the show.

I heard selections for Season 3 will have been made by mid-April. Does anyone know of anyone who's been selected for Season 3, or is that a secret too?

I too am very excited but am cautiously waiting. Last year around this time I was looking forward to The Cut, and that turned out to be a diaster. I would LOVE to see Project Runway 3 in the summer-it would be a ratings sucess!

This is great news that Bravo's really been underway of getting PR going. I'm excited.
I am also a bit cautious and would have to say I do enjoy PR with one season a year at the moment. Perhaps season 3 will be for the usual Fall Olympus Fashion week and Season 4 will kick off for the Spring. I think the casting is only slightly earlier than last year, not leaving quite enough time to show for the September Show. But we may just get closer timing coinciding with the final three in February '07, and an early casting for season 4.
Sound about right?
Anyhow, I am definately happy and satisfied that the season 2 DVD came out promptly!!

george - if Season 3 begins airing in July, it would have to be for OFW this September. My guess is that Bravo will wait to make their oficial announcement somewhere around the Top Chef finale on May 17.

Unless all these rumors turn out to be nothing more than just rumors...

I'm excited but cautious also. I'm wondering how casting, for example will work. I'm curious about the filming schedule. I'm also worried about our Tim! I want quantity with no sacrifice to quality ... in fact, I want even better quality!

I wonder if they already have selected the designers for season 3. I read from someone *don't remember if it was here or where* from a designer off the show that some were told when they went into the room.

I think I am okay with Season 3 coming out this earlier, maybe only because I am greedy and want more. I think they could run into over-exposure or burnout, as thescot says, but at the same time, there is enough gap in between for it to still be alittle intriguing. It isn't like Trading Spaces or While You Were Out where it is every week a new epsiode, forever. There still is a break in between filming, so it does allow us fans to regroup and watch the new season fresh. Just my opinion. I am very excited to see it.

I am one of the designers that sent in a video, and am going crazy because I have not been told yes or no yet.

Regarding the shorter time frame to make a collection, I think that two months is plenty of time to make 13 looks.

anonymous designer - please send us an e-mail so we can learn more about you!

Being another season 3 hopeful please understand why we can't tell you who we are. That non-disclosure agreement is intimidating. I too am at my wits end wondering. This blog has been the only thing keeping me going but I also know if they called me tomorrow I couldn't announce it here. I would remember how entertaining, enthusiastic and supportive everyone on this blog has been and I would reveal myself when it was okay to do so. I think because the contributors to this site have been so mature and positive with their blogs that the people involved have been able to foster relationships with past contestants and TIM GUNN (pat yourself on the back)and I know I would do the same.
As far as Laura's comment about people being told in the room I think that was Nick. He also mentioned in the article that they asked him to do an audition tape. So they may have told him they loved him and they wanted to send him through but he probably still had to agonize and wait like we are doing now. I think they were being more cautious and stoic this time around so they could see everybody before committing to anybody. They knew the show has gained popularity and they could be more selective since more people would audition.
