The timing seems pretty aggressive (or wrong) to me. Say they ran the competition during May (have they even finished casting?) with the final three determined at the end of May. The article says that Fall fashion week is about two months after the July 12 premier - September? That would give the final 4 (I assume they will have a decoy) June, July, August and a couple of weeks in September to put together their collections. Didn't the finalists in the last two seasons have at least 5 months to put together their collections? I know Chloe whipped her fabulous collection together in a few weeks, but not everyone is Chloe!
Since it seemed like none of them really had their collections even mid-way completed when Tim visited them, maybe having less time will spur them on to working harder and getting it done quicker.
I'm more concerned about the filming of the show than I am the fashion week collections. I think some of the comments above are right-less time might mean more focus, more intensity. Is there a possibility that they will only have 10 or 12 looks? I had hoped that there might be a little more time in the next season for new types of challenges, maybe a chance for the designers to work on their looks a little more and more fun time. But-the trade off is we get a whole new season!! I hope the quality and all that make PR such a great show stays. If so-Bring on Season 3!!! WooHoo!
It's true less time means more focus. If they pick designers with more experience who are used to collection deadlines 10 weeks is enough for 13 looks. If they are aided by pro seamstresses(which is how it works in the real world)there really is no problem getting it done. As a designer, 7 months is way to much time to ponder a collection you get bored with your own work and would start over midway anyway.

Emmett told us previously that PR 2 finished filming July 3, 2005. They had more than 7 months to complete their collections!
PR1 filmed in August 2004, so they had a little less time but certainly much more than the next Final 3 will have.
One of the Season 3 hopefuls have commented in the "News on Season 3" post below that they feel 2 months is plenty of time to complete 13 looks.
YAAAAHHHOOOOO!
