Somehow I always forget that the aufed designer will be interviewed on the Today Show every Thursday. I've never seen it. So this is a reminder for me as well.
I feel sad about Andrae. Of course I think I would have felt bad about anyone leaving at this point. I was really impressed with him during the Ice Skating Challenge. Just the fact that he knew how to fix the overlock machine was impressive. The fact that he did it really showed a lot of consideration and maturity. He is a real professional. I can recall many of the earlier designers sort of panicking over some issue or another with the machines. Andrae just calmly and carefully fixed it.
Also, I think he sould have won last week - that dress was impressive!
Andrae, we'll miss you!
Did anyone pick Daniel to win and Andre to be out?
Yes, these were unexpected.
Anyone else feel like if they just picked the names out of a hat, they'd have a better chance of choosing the winning and losing designer correctly?

I feel for final three they will be able to create three different endings - and choose the ending that allows whoever they want to be the winner -by just the way they critique things - it is like the emperors new clothes - they say how it is - and we just have to believe them - they ought to know what is best - so it will be a case of eye of the beholder - and they should all be successful regardless
I mean is an apple better or is an orange better - or is a banana better - or a pear, etc.
I am sad to say that amongst my group of friends i did foresee the demise of andrae-and i was very sad to see that i was right. I will forever be scarred by the demise of austin, this doesn't rank quite like that but i did feel he lost two challenges(hilton dress, inspiration) that he should have won. and at this point it is always a good guess that daniel v is going to win-but i don't begrudge him that because he is very good.
I just called my dad to have him record it, because my stupid bum forgot!
My DH had picked Andre to be aufed, but Chloe to win, which was close.
We were sad to see Andre go - but we would have been sad to see any of them leave. Is it just me, or is this group much tighter than last season's???
Daniel's dress was amazing - but I thought Chloe and Kara's were just as great. It's almost as if they've picked their overall winner already. But like peachpie said, I don't begrudge Dan because he is amazingly talented.
Why do the judges keep saying Santino is talented as they did last night? I feel that he has no respect for women (based on past comments he made about the women in the group), he continues to work the same idea with every challenge and his clothes are unflattering (because he only thinks of his "high-art" scheme and not his customer).
I'm also sad Andrae was booted. He should have won last week (dirty water), and overall he has been a much better designer than Santino
I was seriously brokenhearted to see Andrae go, but I did recognize that his design was the weakest of the bunch, though at this point that means very little since they were all so strong. I had a feeling that Andrae might not make it to the final three, but I definitely expected Kara to bite the dust this time around. At least the only person I can think of who unequivocally deserves to make it to the final three-- Daniel-- got the immunity. Sigh. What a sad episode. Except for the Red Lobster bits, of course.
katey, I totally agree!
I think that Andrae should at least made it to the final four. His vision throughout the show has gotten steadily better.
I'll miss him on the show, and of course his expressive face :)
Ugh, I am tired of Santino getting free passes because they think he is "creative" He should have been out the last couple weeks!! He seems to be the only one who gets a pass because of "potential". Everyone else seems to get judged on that weeks performance. But again, he is a dynamic "character" good for tv...
Also, people forget this IS a TV SHOW, so you gotta know the person who gets the most face time post-production editing (Nick) would not be getting kicked off vs. a character like Andrae. Daniel, Nick, and Santino get the most face time. That would be my guess for final three.
I will miss Andre as well and wish yesterday had worked out differently. But I agree with the judges in which were the strongest and weakest.
A couple of comments to observations made. For those who think Daniel is a "shoe in." Remember the number of challenges that Kara Saun won.. But who won last year. I disagree that the one featured the most is "safe." Last year, we knew Robert was leaving when he did because they featured him a lot that week - including his full naked backside. I suspected that it was a producers gift to certain women and gay guys who had "thought of him." Last night, I suspected Andre would get the axe when they showed him saying that he would NOT be going home. I think the editors love dropping hints but perplexing little hints to keep us guessing during the entire episode.
My picks were WAY off! I had Andrae winning and Kara auf.
The past two weeks I had some help with spoilers and screen caps, but before that I always had at least one right (ie: winner or loser)
I, like Tim, loved Andrea's little dress. I agree with the judges that it could have fit a little better and it did look stiff but I still thought it was cute and different and better than one or two other dresses on the runway. I don't think he should have been the one to go this time. But yes, when Andrea said early on in the episode that he wasn't leaving this week, you knew he would be. Too bad.
And he was in my final three! I'm completely at a loss to predict who will be there with Chloe and Daniel now.
I think it was probably a very close call between Daniel, Chloe and Kara for the win. (Chloe was my favorite, followed by Kara and then Daniel.) I suspect, however, that the judges purposely didn't give Kara the win simply because she would have had immunity. Kara has been on the edge of elimination most of the competition, and to give her immunity at this point would of almost guranteed her a shot at the final three over a more deserving designer.
I also think they gave Daniel the win over Chloe simply because he used more flowers than anyone else. The judges obviously had the idea that the designers were going to use lots of flowers, and they seemed very disappointed that they didn't (especially Nina Garcia).
After waffling between Kara, Nick, and Andrae to be out, I decided upon Kara. I never changed from Daniel to win.
I felt sad about Andrae because like Nina said you could see the Audry Hepburn influence in the dress. I actually liked it over Nick's, though I think Nick the better designer.
What? Do you mean no one else has been picking names out of a hat? Sheesh! I actually picked James Spader to win at first then I realized I was using my Emmy hat.
I just watched the Today Show interview with Andrae. I had set my vcr to record when I left this morning. I thought he looked great. He was adorable and I'll miss him next week. As usual, though, the interviewer had no incisive questions. I would have posed this one: "Andrae, the show was recorded last summer, what have you been doing since then?" or "Andrae, have you kept in touch with any of the other deisgners?" How about "Andrae, who do you think will win?"
Laura, see if you can't finagle an interview of your own out of him!
I've got questions to send over, for sure! He was one of my faves...
I didn't realize that the aufed person was interviewed on the Today show or I would have been dvring it all along! I did find the video of Andrae's interview on an NBC/MSNBC internet site after searching a bit. I'd like to find some of the others but I'm not hopeful because it was so hard to find Andrae's and he was on this morning. I will say, however, that the questions were nothing short of stupid. I wonder if Ann whatherface had ever even seen the show. She inferred from Santino's use of Andrae's name in his Timpressions that Andrae must therefore be very popular and well liked by the other designers. That may be true, Andrae is nice, but how she got from there to here is beyond me. I hate it when the interviewer is clueless. Why can't they hire someone who's passionate about the show as a special correspondent? I've got almost the same beef about Survivor castoff interviews.
