What is the Surprise Next Week? The Twist?

Here is an interesting suggestion from Goglowgirl:

"What does everyone think the surprise is next week, the twist. Kara looked like she wanted to explode last night and did not focus on her very much.

I think she fully competes in fashion week and that the final judging is on four, not three. I think that may be why Chloe gets so upset. Kara's collection was so great, solid and well received that PR just may be connected to it."

Wouldn't that be great? HA! Of course, we know that Heidi announces "three" finalists at the actual show. Hmmmmm..... What do you think? Any other ideas about the surprise?

I definitely think that the surprise is Kara's show. And I think it would be only fair and right that her collection gets judged on equal footing. Not sure , though if that is what will happen...

That would be a great twist. Kara's line, from the pics I saw, blew everyone out of the water.

hmm, i doubt that kara will be in the running for the prize. that would be way way way way wrong. (as if having a decoy isnt wrong enough, but...)

possibilities for the twist:
- debra messing is the guest judge (which we know already but they didnt at the time)
- some model drama (they have to fight over models in a weird messedup way)
- could be a good twist, like perhaps chloe didnt have enough tickets at her disposal to house her entire family in the audience, but bravo pulled through
- rebecca romijn james or other prestigious models are to be fought over

who knows? you can never put one over the PR producers...

Ooh i was going to say the first but i bet it's something like the second. A good twist.

As much as liked Kara's collection, I doubt they'd bring her back in the running.

That would make the whole "final three" pointless...

i think it'll have something to do with flying all of their families in for the final show...after all, we know chloe's entire family was there as was santino's mom...

extra having of clothes for making the final outifit complete is yes maybe?

I was trying to figure this one out. I'm hoping it's something positive rather than negative.

Did anyone else see them in a setting with lots of shoes with Michael Kors? I was wondering if that was from the Shoegate of last season.

Mercedes said...

My guess is that the extra twist has to do with accesories for the collections. Something along the lines preventing last years shoe gate. I personally feel is very wrong that designers have to put together their designs by using leftover shoes from MK. I also say this because in DV's collection there's a close up of a hand bag and I still don't know exactly why that picture is there. So, my bet is it's got something to do with accesories.

I'm wondering if they have to make a last minute garment, or something similar? I'm not that familiar with the collections but didn't Kara have one less than they did? Or could it be the models-the PR models coming back and Rebecca Romijn? My heart breaks when I see her cry! She looks utterly beat.

AJ said...

sassyone, I believe there was a close up on one of DV's handbags because he designed and made them.

Which leads me to worship him even more since I'm a purse ADDICT!

Perhaps it's a good surprise and Chloe is crying cuz she's happy...

In the preview, Daniel says he made a handbag-

I like the idea of bringing family out for the show. I seem to recall from the preview MK saying "Let's go shopping" and then the models coming out. So is the shopping for shoes or the choosing of models?
On a totally different subject, did anybody see "Behind the Bash" on Food Network? Austin designed a delicious dress for the Chocolate Fashion Show.

LauraK said...

I saw Austin on that Chocolate show. I never watch Food Network but a reader alerted me to Austin's appearance. I thought the whole thing was craaaazy. And of course, there was NOT ENOUGH AUSTIN!

I wonder if the winning designers clothes will be manufactured or sold at BR or something. That would be a big surprise.

Jan the Dan Fan said...

Oh, Daniel--he's just so talented all around!
And the preview clip of him showing his own handbag designs is just too cute.

I'm happy to hear some positive ideas as to the twist. It upset me seeing Chloe cry-it's nice to think that they're happy tears.

A twist? They did it last year, too, with Austin Scarlett. They do the faux contestant to keep everyone from knowing for sure who made it to the final three. The only difference this year would be announcing Kara was still in the running to win

The Scarlett said...

Here's my best guess.

I'm thinking that the winner would not be chosen at Fashion Week. I am thinking that the final runway and judging would be on live televsion. That way the winner would not be leaked.

I'm probably totally wrong but I like the sound of it.

all four of them showed on fashionweek, and santino's line was thought to be the "fake" finalist's line if one goes by the NY Daily news' reaction to it...they totally dismissed santino's line but loved kara's and daniel's

LauraK said...

I'm thinking that there is one twist that "Your families are coming!" Which isn't that much of a surprise since the season one designers also had family there. There might have been a follow-up like, "Chloe, your parents and ALL of your sisters are on their way to New York at this very moment!" That would explain her tearful reaction. But why would Daniel be hugging/comforting her then? It seems more like Chloe has heard something sad or unkind. Hmmmm...

Then I think there is some kind of an audience for the final judging. I always thought it was kind of anti-climactic when Jay won last year and there was no cheering audience. Sure we were cheering at home, but it would have been nice to have a live audience. So that's MY prediction. But I still WISH that Kara's collection would be considered like the other three...

Whatever it is, I suspect it's not good news for Chloe.

Anyone else besides me attempt to discern which of the lines were the decoy based on the Getty images of the designers themselves? I figured Kara was in for sure because of the visible excitement, and Daniel V.'s happiness seemed pretty sincere as well. I couldn't quite read Santino, but I decided that Chloe definitely looked bittersweet even in the one shot of her smiling.

And then I looked closer at the clothes, and though she had nice things in her collection, there was so much repetition of obvious fabrics (the green with pink rose print, the blue with green patches print, the pink metallic print) that it seemed to cross a line into that "things look too similar" problem that the judges used against Daniel Franco's lingerie group.

Maybe it's common for designers to blatantly reuse the same obvious fabrics -- I'm not a close follower of fashion, is it? -- but something seemed fishy about Chloe's use.

Could the judges/producers revoke their decision to consider Chloe in the final running? Say that the designers' decision to auf Chloe (if they had a choice) holds? Tell Chloe she could either compete for that final prize or have Bravo fly out all of her family? Tell Chloe that she would *have* to relocate to New York if she won, and if she wasn't willing to make the move would have to pull out of the final three? With Jay declining the money and mentorship, a Project Runway winner declining the prize is very possible in the judges'/producers' minds. Perhaps they're looking for a nice package person who accepts the prize and legitimates the Project Runway process in total, not just the part that gets their name out there ("using Project Runway" rather than really believing in the process PR has set up to jump-start a career).

I think that Chloe crying is probably a result of sheer exhaustion/frustration/stress etc...

I get really emotional when I'm worn out too and sort of get teary-eyed over every little thing...

*shrugs*

It could seriously be anything...

PhillyKat said...

i haven't given it one thought. chloe's tears could have been of joy or just a stress release. it also could be something like "you must do" this and that, esp since jay turned down the mentorship. chloe quite probably doesnt' want to move back to nyc.

you know at this point i really don't care. i'm ticked at that reunion show. i just want to know who wins.

Chloe's tears look sad, not happy. I know there's editing involved, but did anyone notice Heidi's expression after they show Chloe crying? It was almost like a disappointed in someone look, or a "thems the breaks" look. I'm so excited to find out what the twist is!!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Chloe is somehow disqualified (because of her business or something?) and gets booted from the final 3 and Kara takes her place. Chloe is still allowed to show at fashion week, but is not in the running for any prizes.

Anonymous said...

i think you are right - Chloe will get thrown out, and NICK WILL BE BACK!!!! Not Kara!

Anonymous said...

If Chloe got disqualified, that would be a major bummer. I like her clothes and think she's been a consistently strong shower. I feel that between Santino and Daniel V it would definitely be Daniel, because Santino is too 'out there'. I think Santino should've been booted out for either that skating dress, which was a joke, or that awful jump suit he made for Kara.

Anonymous said...

I bet they have to design something...like an extra garment for thier line in about 4 hours or something.

Anonymous said...

The idea of gathering the designers together with Tim AND Heidi to tell Chloe she's disqualified is too hurtful too imagaine. Heidi's contact with the designers has always been either on the runway or at some party. Never the workroom or Mode or field trips - that's Tim's domain. So with both of them present it makes me think that the twist is another challenge.

Anonymous said...

I think it has to do with creating an extra garment right before the show. In the video clip from the episode, someone mentions creating 12 looks, whereas aren't there 13 looks shown on the runway for the final 3?

Anonymous said...

I've got two ideas for the surprise. The first could be either a guest appearance on Will and Grace, or that Grace wears one of the runway outfits on the show, and names the designer. The second would be that they are also judged on how well their collection relates to their evening gown from the last episode, becasue their evening gown was supposed to be a representation of their collection

Anonymous said...

I had a thought that they were required to purchase all their fabrics at Mood before they left NYC, just to level the playing field (and monitor the budgets). That might produce an emotional overload! But then it looked like Tim is making that comment just before the runway show - I base that on hairdos alone (+ some background elements)! So the last minute garment makes sense, also.

Schlock, I saw the same thing on TVG channel, and I am thinking the same thing you do. I posted about this earlier, and no one thought it was a big deal, but to me it was very telling. Andrae certainly did not try to correct them. Someone told me that they read in the tv listings from their newspaper that the title of the next show is something along the lines of "the competition narrows". I think Chloe is (sadly) definately out!

Dinah said...

Well there was an article that mentioned Kara's line (you can see it on my blog) but they said in that her line looked like grey diapers which was weid because I did not know if it was true or they had to say something because they did not pick the final 3 yet...

Anonymous said...

Maybe only two of them are judged at fashoin week and one is eliminated before the shows

Anonymous said...

or maybe that they won't find out the results after the show but on live television with the rest of the world!!!!!very reality TV thing to do
