Tim Gunn - Fashion Insider Style Secrets

Click on the link above for the full article on msn.com. Here are some highlights:

Thanks Diana Z!

Tim Gunn - Resident "den father" for contestants on Bravo's Project Runway, and Chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Parsons The New School for Design

New trends he loves: Boutique perfumes give women a fascination, because the scent they apply is highly individual and personal, not mass marketed and the same for everyone. These fragrances are prolifically diverse and even customizable. For readers not living in major cities, boutique perfumes are available on-line and can be sold in small sample sizes.

What he's looking forward to: I can't wait to see the demise of the bare midriff!

His no-fail fashion picks: Sweater jackets are hands-down no-fail fashion picks. They provide the ease of a cardigan, but with the dressier and more pulled together look that a jacket provides.

His top insider style secret: For me, few accessories make a woman look more chic than a scarf draped over one shoulder or wrapped loosely around the neck. It needn't be expensive by any means, and it can be decorative or one color, diaphanous or opaque. It's a very European look, but let's make it work in America, too.

Style-maker he admires: Diane von Furstenberg. She resonates quality, taste, and style whether she's serving lunch in her studio wearing jeans and a tank top, or in her own eveningwear design on the red carpet at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards Gala. She's an original and an inspiration.

I have inherited a vast collection of Hermès scarves. I have added to that collection through the years. It means I can take a black turtleneck or a black tank and look chic if I also wear great shoes. I make it work.

Unlike designer Kristen from the show, I would slice them up in an instant if I was in the 'Clothes of Your Back' challenge. It's just fashion.

I second the demise of the bare midriff. With it goes the 'muffin top.'

I don't like Tim anymore, and I don't care for scarves or sweater jackets.
Oh well.

*sigh* I (heart) Tim, but I'm not big on cardigans, I can't get a scarf to stay in place to save my life, and I don't see the attraction of DVF. *weeps inconsolably.* But I have a nice fragrance collection!! *perks up*
