from the sites so far, angela and alison seem tres, tres cool. the descriptions on angela's website about her life and her clothes are fabulous!!! all her clothing is made off the grid with solar energy!! how rad is that? the guy robert from mattel seems cool, too. can't wait to see what a doll clothing designer comes up with!

The Scarlett said...

Sewlikethewind.... I know the feeling .. I've been battling the typos since I saw this!

California and New York based contestants really dominate. I wonder if that has anything to do with being able to jump right in and work in the 2 main fashion hot spots, especially for Fashion Week and beyond? Too bad it was not more diverse and equally spread out to include more states.

But CONGRATLUATIONS and BEST WISHES to ALL, for sure!!!!

And the piddling in the panties begins.

Thanks for the list. I admit to wondering if Daniel Franco was going to be around a third time. I'm off to check out those web sites.

LauraK said...

Daniel Franco, where did you go?

George said...

hahaha!
You guys are great.

I'll go reclaim my watching quarter at the PR site to see what they'll have to say there!

TheQuietOne said...

Yay! Thanks BPR Team! You made my day. :)

ohmagod!!! good detective work. i'm already in love w/ at least 5 of them!!! and i'm starting to forget season 2 designers already! santino who? let the obsession begin!

Moi ;) said...

LOL Laura...good one....

Where did you go, Daniel Francooooo?

(everyone, join in!)

Moi ;) said...

I am liking Katherine Gerdes and Angela Keslar a lot. And Robert Best - the Barbie guy! That is SO great, he is going to have his work cut out for him, though.

Does anyone else think that one of the designers you linked to styles a lot like Gwen Stefani??? I won't name names....

JRT said...

I am so excited to see all this. Creative juices are back! Also, I found this line on Bradley's website great:

"this colllection was kindly interrupted by another design opportunity"

can't wait for the season to start. some interesting designers, guess i am in love with katherine, angela, and alison so far, we will see how that changes as the show goes on.

kenneth fron said...

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!! Can this really, really, really be TRUE? ROBERT BEST?!?! I mean THE one and only ROBERT BEST???? No, way!!! I mean no way!!!! This guy is a professional already, if it is the real one!?!?! He sells millions of dollars already for Mattel with his Barbie's. Is this a JOKE? Either I am reading his website wrong, or this is a JOKE!!! That would be like letting VERA WANG be a contestant!?!?!?!

The Scarlett said...

Kenneth, it IS him. I looked at the photos (see the link at the bottom of today's post) and I compared Robert Best, Barbie designer with Robert Best PR designer. They are one and the same.

kenneth fron said...

WOW! I don't think this is fair at all. I am soooo sorry! Mark my words, when the press get's a true hold of this, critics will come down on PR that they are allowing someone of this level to participate. ROBERT BEST already made a name for himself. He is famous. He is a true, true professional. This will likely cause an uproar, I really believe. It is just not right! ROBERT BEST has been with Mattel for years and years and designed many. many outfits for Barbie. He has the whole entire Silkstone Collection out and his past Barbie's are incredible. I really feel in my heart that this slot should have been given to some real fashion student, or recent grad. or a no-name designer who is killing himself trying to hold a job and fulfill his or her dreams. This really is totally mind-blowing to me!!!! I am teary eyed that this is happening. I feel like ANDRE!!!!! This is sooo not right! How so many would have liked the opportunity, including even ME....from Chicago!

LauraK said...

I'm stating here and now that I am rooting for Laura. Naturally.

Jan the Dan Fan said...

Hi Ken!
I'm wondering if the whole LA and NYC locations are where these designers had been currently living. For instance, Daniel was listed as a New Yorker but grew up in Michigan.

And thanks to all you PR Musical fanatics (Laura! Moi!) I will be singing the Daniel Franco song all night now!

They're certainly a well-traveled, multilingual, experienced bunch, aren't they?

a nonny mouse said...

this is definitely the most attractive group of designers yet. they look like models! especially alison kelly...luv her! i think she's going to be my favorite...at least until tomorrow. and kenneth, i understand your concerns although i don't know anything about Robert Best and have never heard of him before. but maybe he's trying to crossover from barbie world to designing for actual people. now, if he had been in season 2 for the barbie challenge that would be unfair! especially if he won!

Moi ;) said...

I had no idea that Best was so well known - I can totally see that this could be seriously unfair.

However, designing for Barbie is a lot different than designing for a living, breathing, Moving person. I think it will be interesting to watch Nina blast him. Women aren't Barbies - even if there was a Barbie competition! And I don't think Tim Gunn will allow him to get away with anything....

Then again, they ALL let Santino get away with all kinds of crap...

Ya know, I gotta say I liked Te-The Nguyen's stuff better than some of these people's....

Moi ;) said...

Wait, I take that back. This guy went to Parsons. He KNOWS how to work with Tim Gunn.

WTF?

a nonny mouse said...

i agree, moi, designing for real women is a whole lot different than designing for barbies. now i have that barbie song stuck in my head...'i'm a barbie girl living in a barbie world!'

also, adding to potential unfairness...Robert Best went to Parsons. Although this didnt' hinder or help Emmett.

and i was thinking the same thing about te-the's stuff. i also think jamie mihlrad and kayce armstrong were totally good enough to make it (work).

well, if he acts like a total psycho then he gets the Here-For-Drama spot on the Top 3... lol

I hope the final collections will rock out, I mean the final 4 gets like 2+ months to crank out a 13-look collection, right?

Looking forward to this season, thans BPR for a great coverage!!!

TropicalChrome said...

Wow, what an interesting lineup! I'm going to have to take some time to go over their sites - this season is shaping up to have potential.

My own take on including Robert Best: on the one hand, yes, he's had some success. On the other hand, as someone who sews for both dolls and humans, they really are two different arenas. While many skills do carry over, there is a big difference in how fabric drapes and how garments are finished and embellished. In some ways, it's almost a handicap rather than an asset. In any case, I'm really looking forward to seeing what all the designers come up with!

Marcia.

Two things I noticed: Bravo doesn't even have its own PR3 page up yet - in fact, when you go to the Shows page and click on the pic of Heidi and Tim, you get... James Lipton. :) And Angela lives about 2 hours away from me (!), so already I can see that I'll be rooting for my fellow Ohioan! :)

LauraK said...

Okay - I made a little joke - anybody find it yet?

Justin Couture said...

BPR is truly the epicenter of all things Project Runway. All of this news has created quite the maelstrom around here.

I'm curious like thequietone, why on earth would Bravo not have their website updated in timing with their press release today? Seems like another missed opportunity.

The BPR team is amazing. It's almost as if they run the show!

Nanette said...

Why are there 30 people (other than Heidi and Tim) in that photo but only 15 designers named? Enquiring minds want to know...

TheQuietOne said...

The models are in there, too.

And I see Laura's joke, very sneaky! :)

Valsauce said...

hahahaha, Laura, you're amazing. I had to look at it twice to realize that you were messing with us.

usually the press release and blogs comes on days before the official site is created... justjared usually has a great coverage for this

Anna said...

ahhh is there anyway i can view the pictures? the one on the blog is too small and hte other ones require a password

LauraK said...

This is the best we can do, Anna. Just thumbnails. Hopefully the Bravo site will be updated soon with full-sized photos of all of the designers!

Anonymous said...

Laura,
You have the David Hasselhoff "Michael Knight: instead of the PR hopeful. Is that your joke? Good one! :)

The Scarlett said...

Anna, I found Bravo's new Project Runway site in the development phase. They don't have the new pictures there, either ... only last season's with 'for position only' in place. I am keeping an eye on it, looking for bigger pictures.

Oh and I have to say we aren't too keen on the new colors on the Season 3 site.

kenneth fron said...

Oh, gee! I wonder WHO will win the Barbie outfit competition this season? LOL!

praddicted said...

I do totally think Kayce, Jaime and Te-The (sp?) have designs that are competitive with these designers. Interesting group, but I haven't really had a chance to check out their sites in detail. From what I did see, a lot of different styles on the sites alone, which is interesting. ITA-it's such a misstep that Bravo doesn't have the new season page ready for this press release-why wouldn't they at least have designers profiles and pictures? It's almost as if they know they can't compete with BPR--

rosebud said...

I can't wait for this. I already have a favorite but will probably change my mind after we see how they act in premier episode.
