This article is called "Life After Project Runway." Hey, that could be the name of this blog lately.

Also, here is a PR#3 article in Fashion Wire Daily. Nothing new here for devoted BeePeRs but still...the excitement builds!

Change Of Venue?

Thanks to BPR reader Kathryn for passing on this bit of Season 3 intrigue from TV Guide.com:

The third season of Bravo's Project Runway, premiering July 12, will in large part stick to the contest's proven formula, save for a nip or tuck here and there. Asked to preview the next round, executive producer Jane Lipsitz, who also is bringing Treasure Hunters to NBC this summer, tells TV Guide.com, "I'm trying to think what I can say without giving it away....Project Runway Season 3 is going to have the same spirit as the last two seasons, and the cast is probably our strongest group of designers yet. But there's been one change of venue. I think I can say that." Are any Santino types looming this season?" Every year we get one or two characters who stand out in their own special way," says Lipsitz." We have people this year are equally as compelling, but aren’t exactly the same type of character."

Change of venue? What could she mean by that? Parsons, Mood, the Atlas?......Hmmmmmm.........Macy's?

Designers In The News

Chloe in San JoseChloe is featured in an excellent article from the San Jose Mercury News. We especially like this nugget from MK:

The show has attracted a loyal following because ``it's about genuine talent,'' Kors says. ``It's not about eating bugs.'' Take that, Survivor and Fear Factor! Thanks Elaine!

Also, Santino gets a nod this week in the MSN TV Highs and Lows as the "Best Villain Semiredemption" (scroll down). Here's hoping he achieves full redemption soon. Thanks Jill!

BPR Contest Runner Up: Santino v. Nina

(Click on the picture for a larger view.)
George's version of Team Lingerie
George Nelson is a talented young artist, and no stranger to the pages of BPR. Not only has he been a frequent commenter, his work has been featured here before. Here is a sketch he submitted of Nick and here is another he did of the Final 3.

For the BPR contest, George decided to tackle what was arguably one of the most dramatic moments from all of Season 2: Santino's runway showdown with Nina Garcia from the "Team Lingerie" challenge. This entry came in just under the wire, but he wanted us to know this wasn't just a John Wade type afterthought, he used all of the alloted time working on it!

Judges?

Laura K: Well, this was not one of Season Two's finest moments. I've been trying to forget the whole episode and then George here has to bring it up yet again. The thing that made this scene so priceless is that Santino was completely earnest in his defense of the lingerie while the models stood there so obviously uncomfortable... George has recreated this perfectly. Thanks a lot.

Tbone: George did an outstanding job of capturing the tone of this scene. I especially love how the font and positioning of the text reflect Santino's vitriolic speech. And the humorous side comments provide much needed balance. Bravo!

Scarlett: He's captured a moment filled with tension and a Christ-like Santino, crucified for his art. This witty entry is reminiscent of a Georges de La Tour ... only with lingerie and deer makeup. It's a merger of Old Masters and Victoria's Secrets. Who wouldn't love that?

George's inspirationMake sure to check out George's website to learn more about him and his art. And make sure to come back tomorrow as we reveal our Grand Prize Winner!

I want them to look like deer!

Andy at the GLAAD Awards

Andy Cohen from Bravo seems to have the best job in the world. Reading his blog, it sounds like non-stop partying with the stars, 7 days a week. Most jealous are we of the fun he gets to have with the Project Runway designers. Don't miss his report from the GLAAD awards in LA on Saturday night and the after party where he went dancing with Andrae, Nick and Santino. Pure envy.

LA Auditions Begin Today!

One of my favorite moments from Season 2 happened at the LA auditions when that winged wierdo came in and began squawking. Tim simply put his finger to his lip - he's so cool! We would love to hear from some BPR field reporters who are either participating in the Season 3 auditions or just stopping by to see who they can see. We know Santino and Tim will be there for sure. Send any photos to The Scarlett at The_Scarlett_Letters@comcast.net and feel free to post your commentary in the comments here. Good Luck to all the Season 3 hopefuls!

"Rate the Runway" Results

While deciding who would be the winner of PR2, the judges were shown reflecting on the body of work each designer had shown throughout the season. I thought it would be interesting to look back at Bravo's "Rate the Runway" pages and see what the viewers thought of each designers work. Here were the averages scores for each of the "Final 5" designers based on their solo designs during Season 2:

Chloe - 3.71
Nick - 3.54
Daniel V - 3.40
Kara - 3.08
Santino - 2.76

To me, this really shows how consistent Chloe performed on each challenge. She never had a clunker. Now let's look at the averages from the Final 3 collections:

Chloe - 3.58
Daniel V. - 3.52
Santino - 3.41

This one really surprised me. If you only listened to the armchair pundits, you would have thought Chloe fell flat on her face. But when you examine the collection piece-by-piece, her quality won the day. So, did the judges make the right call?

Santino's Best Week Ever

Click on the arrow to view.

I finally caught VH1's Best Week Ever this morning and found their segment on Santino to be priceless. We had to have the video for our many BPR Santino fans! I didn't need to look any farther than Santino's Blog because, of course, Jamey had posted this; I'm sure he would want us to share the love. Nicely done, Santino!

Good morning!

Kathy Cano Murillo, who covers art, crafts, and popular culture for The Arizona Republic interviewed me last week. Here is the on-line version. I'm quoted at the very end. Guess what I talked about!

Meanwhile, I've heard from Janthedanfan that Santino Rice is featured again on VH-1's Best Week Ever. I'm going to try to catch this later today. Someone, just give Santino his own show, please!

I had an e-mail from a fabulous artist named John Lacko. Here is an article describing how his drawing of Santino made it into production as a limited edition t-shirt available on Santino's blog. Santino fans - get over there and purchase a shirt while they last!

After 143 days of drought in Phoenix we have rain today. It's really weird.
