A Note From Daniel Franco
Hi Laura,
want this?
This is probably not worth writing about, however...
I am trying to just laugh off the awkward editing-gag-gone-lame between Me and the Lovely Heidi Klum "I Love you" train wreck moment but....
As a man who believes in priciples & honor, I must let it be known that I would never ever approach a happily married woman with any awkward intentions at all. It does not match up one bit with my ethics.
When I said "I Love You Heidi.." It was because she said something incredibly complimentary about my lingerie collection, not shown on the special, and I meant it as a great term of affection, respect and admiration. She said something that was to me, a great validation of my work. (Confidentiality agreement kicks in now.)
Heidi Klum created Project Runway, an amazing forum for fashion designers. So I consider her a "patron saint of the arts". I meant "I Love you Heidi", as a...Thank you and I look up to you, for the opportunites she created for all of the artists on the show.
I think maybe the producers wanted a good laugh like the one in the Lingerie episode during the presentation of our groups to Heidi. Remember the 70's guitar in the background as I say, "I want to show you something beautiful?" But this time the editing seemed slightly rushed, they got this episode out in 2 weeks...amazing actually. As compared to 6 months for the Lingerie episode.
So, there it is...my official response to that.
By the way I LOVE ALL OF YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!! With No awkward editing in sight! Direct.
; )

oh, that's my daniel franco. cute response.
Very sweet.
Hi Daniel F!
That ending did look awfully fishy last night. Very kind of DF to fill us in. We love your clothes Daniel!
I knew that was doctored up a bit.
It takes a lot of courage to put yourself and your artwork out there on television. I had spasms of embarassment and regret just being quoted (or misquoted) in my highschool paper (that was awhile ago).
Anyway, thanks for sharing with the Blog here Daniel
We love you too.
Tv is all about the editing eh?
but Guadalupe.. still seemed a little lupe.. to me.
Yeah that didn't seem like something Daniel would say, really. That was pretty lame of them to try to portray him that way, and it wasn't even that funny. It's good to hear what that was really all about!
As Heidi said during the show-didn't they know this footage would be aired?
But it's a shame that the editing puts comments out of context. I'd love to see the reunion in complete form.
You're a sweetheart Daniel F.
you know, the idea of DF making any "improper" overture was just so unlike him that that whole implication just blew right by me at the time (i clearly wasn't paying close enough attention!) and actually I even thought folks were a little nutz to think anyone *would* see it that way -- but even DF himself thinks they torqued his speech with the editing.
we love you back, DF.
Lupe on the other hand...came off as truly loopy, i guess... WHAT was that about??! Did they piece her little spasm together from outtakes or what??
Awww, thank god!...LOL
I kind of feel bad for commenting on it in my recap, but it was kind of funny...
Kind of weak to end the show on, but humorous nonetheless.
We love you to Daniel...so glad we got to see more of you this season!
I love Daniel. What a sweet and candid response.
I love me some Daniel Franco!
I would like to see all of the footage that they have. I was very dissapointed watching the PR1 DVD and noticing, especially comments on the runway, were not there. Someone in the know should ask PR to give us a chance to buy the extra footage.
We absolutely believe you Daniel!!! Too bad the editors had to make it look that way. Thanks for clearing it up..
And I love you, Daniel.
Words taken out of context can be in the best circumstance extremely embarrassing, and in the worst downright life-threatening. Luckily this happened on Project Runway rather than elsewhere. A pox on the editors of the reunion show! Thank you, Daniel, for setting us straight - no pun intended ;)
And Andrae, you remain my little lamb! I love you, wherever you are!
I'm so glad that I read this blog -all the PR contestants do too!
Daniel's response is something you can only find here.
I love you too, Daniel!
Thank you for responding Daniel. That was adorable! It was also great to see you stand up for NIna on the Runway. Keep making great designs
I lurve Daniel Franco. After he got voted off, I sent him an email and he actually wrote me back. And it wasn't creepy or anything. They just like to make him out to be the weirdo, which makes you wonder what they think of Lupe.
How sweet is that of Danny F to write? *muah* Still, I had no doubts that it was an editing fluke.
daniel franco, are you single? <3
and where can we buy your clothes?
"Film is truth 24 times a second, and every cut is a lie."
-Jean-Luc Godard
They can't edit your art and design. Thank you Daniel Franco.
Daniel, if it makes you feel any better, I thought it was meant to be a joke, and laughed myself off the couch.
Be proud of your showing on PR, because I saw a man who cares about line, about cut, about quality, about women and about honor and integrity. So, if people think you come across as overly intense because you care too dang much, pfft. I feel bad for anyone who is scared of or offended by enthusiasm and passion.
Rock on.
Daniel Franco, You are an awsome designer and a true gentleman (as seen when you took full blame during the challenge that got you eliminated). I can't believe the editing done to make you look bad.
I love your clothes and only wish I could have some.
i kind of believe Daniel. After all, why would heidi and tim respond BEFORE he said anything so akwardly?
see MittelMitte for screenshots!
As my fiance said, "They edited the sh*t out of it..."
Agreed. And thanks for the classy clarification Daniel. You are truly one of a kind!
=)
thank goodness. i thought that moment was soooo strange and awkward.... and so out of character for the sweet daniel franco that i adore. im so relieved i can continue to be his fan.
I don't know if anyone wants to take stock in Santino's comments from his blog this morning, but he says that, if anything, the editors were kind in that instance; it was way uncomfortable.
Hmm...
Daniel is just so sweet! That was very nice of him to email you all. Thanks for the clarification on that scene. We figured it was edited to make Heidi look uncomfortable. What did Daniel think of the song Santino and Nick sang about him?
I think it's very compelling that he felt strongly enough about this to respond and set the record straight. I didn't think he was improper and I didn't think Heidi's response was bad, either. Misinterpretation by some people blown out of proportion.
We love you back, Daniel....
And not in a creepy way.
It may have been clever editing, but it was still showed Daniel F as a man who understands sensuality. Migod, he's talented AND crushworthy (in a distant, "but I'm taken" kind of way).
I too would love to see some unedited versions of the show, but imagine how many DVDs that would take up? But at least an unedited version of the reunion would be nice on the PR2 DVD. I feel like a lot was left out. I am almost to the point of saying, they should make the reunion 2 hours, so they can talk about more relevant topics?
Thanks for the clarification Daniel. You are a great designer, keep working hard and you will succeed immensely.
You rock, Daniel F!
i also did not see it as him making a pass but as the worst editing in the world and there was not question that it was cut to elicit a different response-i would love to see the full reunion on the dvd set-dennis is correct that the producers should make all of the footage available to us
Daniel, welcome, and thank you so much for clearing that up! I was a full Dan F fan, and sorry to see you go. But I was happy you showed such integrity when it was, sadly, time. You're an inspiration. Be well!
Daniel Franco-
I perchance you read this, please please PLEASE try out for Season Three!
I'm sure we'd all love seeing more of your beautiful work!
Thanks for a glimpse into what really happened. I always through you were a person of integrity, and this proves it. Good luck in the future, i'm sure you'll make your mark on the fashion world.
He just seems like a nice, honest guy who's not afraid to say what he feels, or nice things. What's the big deal? Why is this so foreign? I think he's great. At least from what I saw on TV. I didn't think it was weird when I saw it on TV, considering who said it.
