I personally think that Chloe has the right idea. How many people jump in with both feet after winning a reality show, thinking that they are going to be a STAR! and soon fall off the map completely. Chloe knows who she is and what her aesthetic is, with strong family ties to keep her from getting full of herself and losing her way.

I honestly think of the designers in this season, Chloe and Nick have the wherewithal to truly capitalize on winning the prize. I think Nick is going to come out of this stronger than ever also..

From what I understand, 100,000 doesnt go a long way in 'starting a line'.... Its the exposure and name recognition that does that... All the contestants got that opportunity....

I absolutely agree with your observation. Chloe got the New York experience out of her system anyway, she knows that it is no guarantee for success. I also think that people were misinterpreting her circumspectness and maturity for not being passionate or hesistant about winning the contest.

Alot of people esp from the outside idealize and are completely unrealistic what fashion industry is actually about and what it takes to be considered a leader let alone a name. Talent and drive is important but that alone is never enough. Just as important are having allies, great technical expertise and executional skills, knowing your customer and working with them and business sense and of course sheer will. This isn't about being in an ivory tower and telling the world to f--- off and listen to you. American design isn't about that anyway --- the composition of the judges should have been a huge tip off. Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg...they are great designers but they are also incredible MERCHANDISERS. Project Runway wasn't looking for the next Galliano because American Fashion isn't about that. After all this the country that gave us Claire McCardell and Bonnie Cashin...

I worked in the business after I graduated from undergrad. In fact, I attended FIT around the same time Chloe did (except my major was fashion design). Ultimately, I wound up migrating into another high churn line of work in the end (technology) and lived and survived dotcom land because it was honestly more humane than the fashion industry...believe it or not. There are alot of talented people who go through school --- there was a guy whose creativity and talent exceeded Santino in terms of vision but whose execution was far, far better. There was another person whose pattern making skills rivaled Chloe's, seriously she was brilliant. In fact there were alot of students like that. But of the group I was with, very very very few actually made it into what they expected...because it's really hard and before you know it, you're taking the job as the findings buyer b/c there is neither the market for your vision nor the money to fund it, or you've run out of it...

Chloe has a great balance of creativity, aesthetic POV, work ethic (as in, "I don't deserve what I don't work for") and management sense--all so critical to being successful and, therefore, influential in the world of fashion. I agree with sallahdog about the point that of the Season 2 designers, Chloe and Nick have the whole package. Let's face it, Banana Republic wants to be able to put out press releases two years from now that describe Chloe's success; not press releases that describe the winner's latest arrest.

I am glad that others can see that just because Chloe isnt moving to NY to become the next Vera Wang, it doesnt mean her path isnt valid. I get a little frustrated by some of the fans whom love other finalists who think that because Chloe owns a store, that she doesnt need the breaks also.

Frankly of the final 3, she was really the only one with the maturity and the support in place to fully take advantage of the money...

I dont think we have heard the last of Daniel V, but he definately needs to gain some maturity, lol, I hated people saying that to me when I was 22, but... It was true..

Santino... I actually liked his collection a lot, and feel if there was ever a cat who could land on his feet, its Santino... LOL, I wonder what he would have ended spending that 100,000 on... I have a feeling it wouldnt have been on building a design team or a label... I dont think throwing money at him is a good idea, I bet he is one of those people who work best when they are hungry (lol, I am.)

I sincerely hope Jay finally gets his stuff in stores and succeeds, he has been really open about how hard the winning was when he truly wasnt ready for that leap(he went on the show as a lark)....

I often wonder how Kara Saun would have used the money and the contacts, since she really was poised to use it...
