The Big Idea is Great!

I'm really enjoying The Big Idea! It's about halfway over and I'm really impressed. What do you all think?

Also, here is a link to the eBay autographed portfolio auction mentioned on the show. Proceeds benefit "Autism Speaks."

Are there clips that have been unaired? We are being barraged with the same footage over and over again and it's driving me mad.

same here. it's really a big mess. it's jumping from one thing to another and i'm like "ugh!"

i am digging the runway show right now, but i hope it's not messed up. it's quite nice to see the pieces again.

I'm sorry - but I think the show is utterly lame. seems like the whole purpose of this show is to give the disconnected husbands what their wives are obsessing about. donny talks too much and it's obvious he's quite overwhelmed with all the guests. just when an interesting discussion begins (how much does it cost to start your own company / why'd jay turn down the 100g) he shuts it down to replay some clip we've seen a 100 times.

Yes, I think this program is aimed at folks who may not already be fans of the show like we are. I believe it is designed to give an overview of the program so that NEW viewers will tune in for the finale. I'm for anything that contributes to the success of Project Runway so I still say YAY!

I'm with you on this, Laura. I very much enjoyed it. Yes, it was compressed but we did get to see a little bit of the runway show and Emmett spoke more here then he did on the Reunion special.

And it was cool to see the models wearing the designs again.

I agree with everybody - WAY too many clips and too many guests. I would be annoyed if I were one of his guests that didn't get one word in (that's most of them!) Jay was pretty funny, though.

Oh yeah, that "raise your hand" part was REALLY awkward. Do you think Donny watches the show? I liked hearing Santino admit that Nicki Hilton didn't actually wear the dress. I thought for sure that Santino and Nicki were BFF. Right, Santino? Aren't you designing for the boutiques in all of the Hilton Hotels or something? I thought I heard that somewhere.... Just kidding Santino!

I was watching the show to see the mood of the Final 3 designers, and I have to say that Santino seemed quite happy and relaxed. And during the runway show portion, when his gold dress was being shown, he said it was to be featured on the cover of Elle magazine in a week or so. Yes, he laughed, but the comment, along with his at-ease demeanor, really makes me wonder if he ended up winning the whole she-bang.

I think Donny Deutch is very short-attention span.

By the way, Laura, thanks for putting up the link for the eBay auction. As a mother of an autistic child, I like knowing that personalities that I enjoy such as the Project Runway cast support worthy causes; they realize that it isn't always about them.

I have to agree with the "nay" gang. My main objections have already been voiced (clips we've seen over and over, DD cutting people off just as they were answering his questions) except for one. I hat watching anything with a moving zipper at the bottom of the screen, but that's nothing to compare with the words above it taking up one-quarter of the screen. Unbearable!

So I missed the first 10 minutes of the program so was shocked to read in previous comments about confusion of Chloe and Diana. Knowing Mr. Deutsch's show can be haphazard I viewed with lower expectations regarding possible abundant new revelations. Those of us with addictive personalities were let down with the rehash of clips there were a few little tidbits we learned [emphasis: few]. One big plus is the autographed portfolio with proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks. It's a win-win for the charity and the fan and possibly more down the road for the fan considering Karl Lagerfeld got his start by winning a competition.

In the end, I'll still take this kind of promotion of the show by the NBC Universal machine because after Wendnesday, it is several months to Season 3.

I called it the big disappointment with Donny Deutsch. I felt like I was in ADD H$((, jumping all over the place-and on to a commercial break. There were so many opportunities for real, interesting dialogue-Jay and Daniel starting to talk about where you go from here with starting a line, Jay expounding more on the Heidi situation and turning down the mentorship, LOL. And Jay mixing up the Daniels, LOL. I heart Jay, he is such a character! Nina and the judging-why not ask HER if Santino was kept in for good TV as well? I hated it when DD cut off someone who was making a point, which he did repeatedly!! And the fashion show-well, they should have shown our top 5, LOL!! BUT-did you hear Jay say be nice to your fans and you know about the message boards and Blogs?-Laura K, you are famous!!

I liked it. I didn't have a problem with the jumping and rushing and whatnot - that's usually what happens on CNBC or MSNBC shows.

I liked that he at least was asking decent questions.

When I said "Where's Santino's model Heather?" My husband replied "Shooting an Elle fashion spread."

Hmmmmm.

My favorite part was when Chloe did a little booty dance in front of Tim and Chloe said, "It was the year of the big butt!"

Otherwise-pretty lame, same old, same old for loyal viewers. And Donny's voice agrravates the h*ll out of me.

Ok, I meant GRACE did a little hip-shake for Tim in Chloe's evening gown. Oops.

And I loved being able to see the FW runway show playing behind Donny's head. I payed attention to that the most.
Can't wait for Wednesday's show!

I'm still saying Daniel wins the competition. He looked so at ease on the couch with his arm around Chloe.

You know, there is something odd about the timing of this. I mean by now the finale has been in the can for WEEKS! The three finalists, their models, Nina, Tim, and who knows how many others know by now who the winner is. It seems kind of cruel (and even a little risky) to tape a show like this now. At least the "Reunion" episode was filmed before the OFW Show so there was a sense of anticipation. Here, we are trying to analyze the "body language" and demeanor of the finalists. The timing of this is off. I'll bet this is something that was not originally scheduled but just sort of added to the build-up of PR hype as we lead to the final episode. And.... me, I'm glad there IS so much hype. The timing just seems a little strange.

By the way, was Kirsten Ehrig there? Was she one of the designers brought into the studio during part one of the finale? I don't recall seeing her. Of course, she is pregnant, but that didn't stop Heidi! I hope she is okay.

I'd love to see a challenge where they design something for Sarah Jessica Parker. Although it would have been more fun had they done it based on her charcter Carrie in SATC.

Donnie doesn't let anyone finish a sentence! Everytime something interesting was being said, he cut them off. Kara was one.
